# Can soybeans or coffee beans be tested as they are? \[Moisture Analyzers\] \[MS/MX/MF/ML\]

NO. Usually samples like peas should first be crushed in blender or mill because the temperature of the surface and inside can be very different. When crushed the sample can be heated evenly. Note that when crushing a sample, start the measurement soon because with crushing the sample’s superficial area increases and can absorb moisture from the ambient air.
